Could people insult you because they are jealous of you?

so there's this girl i used to be best friends with, and she likes this boy who likes me, though i dont like him so i said that she's welcome to him, i even tried to get him to go out with her. then my friend turned on me all of a sudden and gets me quite upset now, she always brings up how my parents aren't around anymore and how i haven't had many bfs. it's a bit embarrising and i get upset over it. nd she's like got a new group of friends now and they don't like me now eithe. has she done this because she is jealous and how can i stop it all?
